CZECHS TO PRIVATIZE

770 FIRMS IN 2ND PHASEPRAGUE, Czech Republic - The Czech government plans to offer shares in 770 companies worth an estimated $5 billion in the second wave of its privatization plan, officials said.

A provisional list of the companies will be published today in advance of the Oct. 1 distribution of voucher books to citizens.

The companies include such names as heavy-engineering conglomerate Skoda Plzen AS and the power company CEZ. One notable exception Jihoceske Pivovary, makers of the celebrated Czech beer Budvar, also known in Europe as Budweiser.
