TACA lines cut fuel charges

As fuel prices ease from record highs, the Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement announced that it will reduce its bunker fuel adjustment factor (BAF) by 19.19 percent as of Aug. 16 for 30 days through at least Sept. 15.

The new charges for traffic to/from and via Atlantic/Gulf Coast ports are $160 per TEU, down from the previous $198 per TEU; $320 per FEU, down from $396 per FEU, and $16 by weight and measure for other freight, compared to $20 in the previous 30-day period.

For Pacific Coast ports, charges are $240 per TEU, down from $297 per TEU; $480 per FEU, down from $594 per FEU, and $24 for other freight, compared to the previous $30.

TACA said the Currency Adjustment Factor will remain at 5 percent through at least Sept. 15.

It said it would announce fuel and currency charges to apply from Aug. 16 no later than Sept. 15.
