Frank Masi was named MOL's vice president of sales. Mr. Masi will be responsible for coordinating and managing the implementation of the company's corporate marketing plan by MOL's North American strategic and regional sales groups.Mr. Masi is stationed in MOL's North American headquarters in Concord, Calif. Mr. Masi brings 22 years of industry experience in the trans-Pacific trade to his new position. Mr. Masi has served on the board of the National Council of International Trade and Development for the past four years.

Connie Bacon was officially sworn in as Port of Tacoma commissioner administered by Judge Karen Seinfeld.

Ms. Bacon replaces Jerry Thrope on the five-member commission, which serves as the governing body for Pierce County's port.

''We have a first-class port, and as a commissioner, I want to work to keep it that way.'' she said.

M.P. Leto assumed the newly created position of vice president-sales management. All regional sales and customer service staff will report to him. ''In order to maximize our sales efforts, we have restructured our commercial group to provide full-time attention to our sales activities,'' a statement said.

Alden J. McDonald Jr. was elected chairman of the board of commissioners for a nine-month term. He is chief executive of Liberty Bank and Trust Co. He was appointed to the board in 1994.

Capt. Mark Delesdernier Jr. is the new vice chairman. He is president of the Crescent River Pilots Association. He joined the board in 1995. James M. Baldwin Jr. is the new secretary-treasurer. He is vice president and general manager of Forest Lines. He was appointed to the board in 1996.
