MOL TO LAUNCH JOINT SERVICE TO CAMBODIA

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and East Asiatic Corp. will launch a service to and from Cambodia on March 21, which they describe as the first container operation serving the Asian nation.

"With the comprehensive peace agreement, industrial development and interest in sourcing by foreign manufacturing companies opened Cambodia as a new and exciting market area," said Thomas McGoldrick, vice president of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (America) Inc., Jersey City, N.J.The weekly service will sail between the ports of Singapore; Kuantan, Malaysia; and Kompong Som, Cambodia. In Singapore, cargo is transferred between the Cambodian operation and MOL's North America-Asia service.

EAC will be the agent in Cambodia for the operation.

"Together with MOL's Asia-Pacific liner services, our extensive intermodal double-stack train network throughout North America offers our customers the first and most fully integrated transportation logistics system to and from Cambodia," Mr. McGoldrick said.
