The nonprofit organization Marine Exchange of Southern California has named James Kipling “Kip” Louttit as executive director.
Louttit, who retired after 30 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard, replaces Dick McKenna, who announced his retirement in October 2012.
Jim Morgan, president of the Marine Exchange board of directors, announced the selection after a nationwide recruitment process.
After retirement from the Coast Guard, Louttit provided consultancy services to the Coast Guard and Department of Defense.
Louttit will relocate to the San Pedro, Calif., area from Chevy Chase, Md., and will lead a staff of 20 civilians and a U.S. Coast Guard contingent of nine, with an annual budget of $2.4 million.
