INDIA EASES RULES ON DUTY-FREE IMPORTS

The Indian government Friday eased rules governing the duty-free import of goods, and will allow some export companies to bring office equipment and spare goods into the country without government permission.

A press statement said export companies solely engaged in the production of goods for export purposes don't need government approval for the duty-free import of office equipment. Before the change, such companies, called 100 percent Export Oriented Units, needed Commerce Ministry approval.
