Inchcape, Polish group ink deal

Inchcape Shipping Services has announced a new agreement with Polsteam USA, the American arm of Polish Steamship, Poland's largest shipping group.

The announcement is the latest in a series of new contracts around the globe since ISS recently announced plans to double the size of its port agency business by 2005.

ISS will handle Polsteam USA's diverse maritime service requirements in Canada and along the St. Lawrence Seaway trade route. Polsteam USA is one of the top three regional players. Its major cargoes are steel and grain.

ISS announced a global agency agreement with ExxonMobil last week and also signed a global hub agency agreement with Copenhagen Tankers in April.

London-based ISS has a customer base of 2,500 clients across the oil, cruise, navy, container and commodity sectors, and receives 40,000 port calls a year worldwide. The firm was acquired in 1999 by Electra, an investment bank.
