Houston Port OKs Bayport Spending

The Port of Houston Authority approved nearly $1 million for Bayport Container Terminal construction projects, including a $753,169 gate control system to improve the flow of trucks and a $230,553 berm to provide a sight and sound barrier to the terminal.

Port commissioners also voted to seek bids to demolish transit sheds and lighting at wharves 24 and 25 at the port's older Turning Basin docks in order to provide more open space for cargo handling.
