Houston opens port coordination center

The Port of Houston Authority opened its Port Coordination Center on Monday.

The center, located at 111 East Loop North, is a $4.35 million facility that utilizes communications systems and data sharing equipment to facilitate communication between port organizations such as the Coast Guard and various local, state and federal regulatory and law enforcement agencies.

The Port of Houston Authority owns and operates the public facilities located along the Port of Houston, the 25-mile-long complex of diversified public and private facilities designed for handling general cargo, containers, grain and other dry bulk materials, as well as project and heavy lift cargo and other types of cargo.
