Hamburg SŸd raises Pacific Islands rates, shifts Long Beach call

Hamburg S?d announced a general rate increase of $150 per 20-foot container, and $300 per 40-foot container on its Pacific Islands Service, which runs from San Francisco and Long Beach to ports in Tahiti, American Samoa, Samoa, Tonga, and Fiji.

The increase took effect on May 1. The carrier also said its emergency fuel surcharge has been set at $128 per TEU. The liner said the surcharge will be monitored and adjusted on a quarterly basis.

In related news, the carrier said two of its West Coast containership services will begin calling the International Transportation Service terminal in Long Beach, Calif., starting this month.

? The Westbound West Coast Inter-Americas service (Ampac) vessel CCNI Austral will make its first ITS call on May 8.

? The Eastbound Ampac vessel Helene J will make her initial call on May 11.

Vessels of Hamburg S?d's South Pacific Islands service fleet will also call the ITS terminal with specific initiation dates to be announced shortly.
