S1623 Telecommunications project

Telecom Slovenia has applied for a loan from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a project with an estimated amount of DM200 million to assist in financing a comprehensive network development program that will substantially improve accessibility and quality of national and international telecommunications services. Project will require procurement of goods and services: supply, installation, testing and commissioning of approx. 1,000 km of optical fiber cable systems; supply, installation and testing of corresponding optical transmission systems, multiplexing equipment and network management systems for digital transmission network; supply, installation, start-up and initial operation of a digital telephone exchanges with total capacity of approx. 300,000 line units; supply, installation and testing subscriber cable networks for approx. 150,000 new subscribers; execution of required civil works and physical site preparations for systems and installations; technical co-operation in form of consultant services associated with project. Tendering for contracts will be open to qualified firms from any country. Contracts to be financed with proceeds of loan will be procured following European Bank's procurement policies and rules. S3662 Czech rail corridor

Cesky Drahy has applied for a loan from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for a project to assist in financing upgrading and modernization of railway corridor that links Vienna and Berlin through Prague. Proposed project, that has a total estimated cost of ECU632 million equivalent, will be co-financed by European Investment Bank and Japan Exim Bank. A loan from EBRD in an amount of US$75 million (ECU 59.5 million) will finance procurement of signaling and telecommunications equipment. This will include interlocking and relating communication devices to be procured during 1996-98 for several

sections of corridor. Contracts to be financed with proceeds of a loan from European Bank will be subject to bank's procurement policies and rules and will be open to firms from any country. S4911 Power rehabilitation project

Sakenergo, a state owned department of Georgia, has received a loan from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) toward cost of a condenser tube cleaning facility to be installed for two 300 mw generating units at Gardabani Thermal Power Station. It is intended that part of proceeds of loan will be applied to eligible payments under contract for design, manufacturing, supply and installation of equipment, civil works and services necessary to accomplish facility for that this notice is issued. Proposed project has a total estimated cost of US$4.5 million equivalent.
