El Salvador - Foreign Government Tender

S1731 Contractors

Power Grid Corp. of India Ltd (Powergrid), New Delhi, intends to prequalify contractors for following work under this project: design, integration, assembly, testing, supply, transportation, storage at site, installation, final acceptance testing, and putting into operation a wide-band telecommunications system for northern region consisting of digital microwave and fiber optic networks. In addition, contractor will be required to provide support services after commissioning of system. Indian Electric Power System is currently divided into five regions (northern, southern, eastern, western and northeastern) for planning and operation purposes. System coordination and control projects in Indian Electric Power System include establishment, augmentation and modernization of five Regional System Coordination Centres (RSCC), Associated Central Project Control Centres (CPCC), State Load Despatch Centres (SLDC), and Sub-load Despatch Centres (Sub-LDC) under each SLDC and Remote Terminal Units (RTU) in substations and power stations. Scope of overall project includes planning, design, engineering, procurement and implementation of system coordination and control centers with associated telecommunication facilities for each of five regions in a phased manner over a period of several years. Scope of this telecommunications system is limited to design, supply and implementation of an integrated wide-band telecommunications system for northern region. This system for purpose of procurement has been divided into two packages: I: survey, design, supply, installation and commissioning of fiber cables (termination and jointing boxes included) comprising mostly of wrapped around fiber and associated terminal equipment including repeater stations. There could be small requirements of all-dielectric self-supporting fiber (ADSS) and optical fiber ground wire (OPGW). II: a) Survey, design, supply and installation of digital microwave links including repeaters; b) commissioning and system integration of microwave, fiber optic terminal equipment and PLCC whenever applicable with fiber cable supplied and installed under package I; c) design, supply, installation and commissioning of network management system. Other procurement packages associated with this project but not included are: a) EMS/SCADA system; b) power line carrier communication (PLCC); c) PABX subsystem; d) satellite communication subsystem (if required); e) uninterruptable power supply (UPS)/battery systems; f) building and facilities renovation ex-works. Cost of equipment will be financed by a loan from World Bank. It is expected that invitations to bid will be made in January 1996. Prequalification is open to firms and voluntarily formed joint ventures from eligible source countries as defined in IBRD document guidelines: Procurement Under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 1992. Prequalification documents are not available with American Embassy, New Delhi.
