Court approves Israel port reform

Israel's National Labor Court has granted the government 10 days to continue the legislation of port reforms.

The court on Monday decided to repeal the injunction against further unilateral legislative actions after becoming convinced that port workers are resorting to strikes.

The government wants to convert the ports of Haifa, Ashdod and Eilat into separate, competing government companies and to dissolve the state Port Authority. Port workers are opposing the move, but local reports said the government is trying to reach a compromise with the Histadrut union.

The union said it would abide by the court's decision.
