LIVESTOCK POPULATION FALLS IN NETHERLANDS

The Netherlands' livestock population fell slightly compared with last year, according to the latest figures issued by the Dutch Central Bureau for Statistics.

The 1995 poultry population was estimated 91.7 million, made up of 89.6 million chickens and 2.1 million turkeys and ducks.In 1994 the poultry populaton was 93.95 million, consisting of 91.9 million chickens and 2.05 million turkeys and ducks.

There are an estimated 14.45 million pigs, down from 14.56 million in 1994.

The 1995 Dutch beef herd was estimated at 4.69 million animals, compared with 4.71 million in 1994, CBS said.
