Columbus, Ohio – June 23, 2010 – Columbus, Ohio based warehouse and distribution provider <http://www.spartanwarehouse.com/default.aspx> , Spartan Logistics, announced Steve Harmon will be assuming leadership of the company, as his father, Ed Harmon, steps down after 22 years of running the company.
“My father founded Spartan in 1988, and has been an outstanding leader in the community, to our customers, and to our employees ever since. His vision and drive built Spartan into a top warehouse and distribution company in Ohio,” Steve Harmon, new Managing Director of Spartan said. “I am honored to come in to this leadership position and continue serving our company, customers and employees. I will strive to continue providing quality service and value-added contributions for our customers. This focus on helping our customers has elevated Spartan to where it is today as a leader in the Ohio warehouse and distribution industry <http://www.spartanwarehouse.com/Services/Default.aspx> , and I will maintain this caliber of excellence.”

Harmon was a CPA and manager for a major accounting firm while helping his father start the company. “Just as our founders have for the past 22 years, I will work hard to provide our customers with the services that meet their operational requirements and add value to their supply chain.” Harmon said. “With new contracts and locations in all major Ohio regions, as well as in Indiana and South Carolina, the future looks promising for Spartan Logistics.”

Under Harmon’s leadership, the warehouse and distribution provider will continue to maintain a focus on the handling of food grade materials, glass, paper, and fragile/ high value products. Spartan’s services include order processing, industrial real estate operations and construction, storage, and data integration with customers. In addition to warehousing, Spartan will continue to provide full-service transportation, allowing Spartan to provide seamless pick-up, storage and delivery to its customers.

Ed Harmon will continue as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and will remain active in the community and as a driving visionary in the logistics industry. “Steve has been a key part of Spartan’s growth and success over the last 15 years. He is ready to take primary responsibility for all facets of Spartan’s operations. He brings an energy and vision that reminds me of when we first started this company.”
