CALVERTON, MD, September 13, 2010 – The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has named both Direct ChassisLink, Inc. and the Port of Long Beach and as winners of the IANA Intermodal Achievement Award for 2010. This prestigious industry award is presented to either a public or private organization, or government agency that has made the greatest contribution to the advancement of the intermodal freight transportation industry during the previous year.

The award presentation ceremony will take place during the Opening General Session of the 2010 Intermodal Expo on Monday, November 15 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/ Broward County Convention Center.

The IANA Awards Committee specifically recognized Direct ChassisLink, Inc. for its innovative development of a neutral chassis pool that provides drayage companies with chassis that are able to be used with any ocean carriers’ containers. This dynamic and creative approach has provided many drayage company vehicles more efficient movement through terminals, which saves significant time while also reducing diesel emissions.

The Port of Long Beach was acknowledged by the Committee for its leadership and development of a variety of port-related “green” initiatives; especially for its efforts towards the development and expedited implementation of its Clean Trucks Program. The Committee noted that the program has served as a model for seaports around the country by decreasing air pollution nearly 80 percent from drayage trucks serving the port.

“I am pleased that Direct ChassisLink and the Port of Long Beach will each receive an IANA Intermodal Achievement Award this year for their significant contributions to the intermodal industry,” said IANA Chairman Steve Branscum. “Both companies worked hand-in-hand with intermodal stakeholders to improve the efficiency and sustainability of our industry, and I look forward to personally presenting and recognizing each organization with their deserved awards at this year’s Intermodal Expo.”
