Minneapolis, Apr. 26, 2012 The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) announced today that the Food Shippers of America Association (FSA) has joined the ALAN network as an association partner and gold-level sponsor.

FSA and its members bring valuable transportation assets and knowledgeable people with food-specific expertise to disaster response. In addition, FSA's financial contribution enables us to mobilize relief for disaster survivors, said Jock Menzies, president of ALAN. It is through relationships such as this that ALAN can engage the supply chain to create more resilient communities.

ALAN provides a way for FSA members to be involved in disaster relief with a focus on their food logistics area of strength, a critical component during any disaster, said Royce Fisk, executive director of FSA. We're honored to support the work of ALAN and to make our member network available to support during a time of need.

As much as 80 percent of disaster relief expenditures go toward transporting, warehousing, and distributing goods and services to affected communities, Menzies said. FSA and the other associations sponsoring ALAN bring a tremendous network of resources that help fill this need.
