Schneider National hiring 400 drivers

Schneider National Inc., North America's largest truckload carrier and a provider of logistics services, said today it plans to hire 400 new truck driver positions based out of its new operating center in Georgia's DeKalb County slated to open in February.

The opening is part of the Green Bay, Wisc.-based carrier's plan to expand support for its growing business in the Southeast.

The hires of both regional and long-haul drivers and owner-operators are scheduled for the first quarter.

Schneider, a major intermodal carrier, and other truckers are facing a shortage of drivers as tonnage benefits from economic growth. The company said it recently implemented a new compensation package that pays some drivers as much as $140,000 a year.

Schneider National has more than 15,000 drivers and owner operators serving the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
