Panalpina appoints N. Amer. VP

Swiss forwarder Panalpina has appointed Douglas Brittin as vice president of marketing for North America.

Brittin most recently served as vice president marketing and business development for Menlo Worldwide Services, which was formed by the merger of . Menlo Logistics and Emery Forwarding. Prior to that, he was vice president of marketing for Emery Worldwide.

Brittin rejoins two former Emery colleagues now holding top posts at Panalpina. David Beatson, former president of Emery, was named president and chief executive of Panalpina's North America region in June. Another former Emery executive, Cary R. Dittmann, is Panalpina's executive vice president for marketing and sales in North America. Dittman also served with Beatson at Circle International and Supply Links, a short-lived logistics dot-com.

"With his marketing leadership, we will be expanding our presence and visibility in North America and achieve significant growth, both geographically and in our key industry groups such as automotive, high-tech and health care," Dittman said. Panalpina also has an extensive oil and gas business in North America.

Brittin is based in Panalpina's North America region headquarters in South San Francisco.
