Kuehne & Nagel integrates U.S. operations

Kuehne & Nagel Logistics, Inc., the former USCO Logistics, is being fully integrated into Kuehne & Nagel, Inc., the company's U.S. organization, based in Jersey City, N.J.

The integration, effective immediately, streamlines U.S. international forwarding and contract logistics operations into a management structure that parallels Kuehne & Nagel operations globally, the Swiss-based company said.

U.S. contract logistics headquarters will remain in Naugatuck.

The company said this is the latest step in the integration of USCO, which Kuehne & Nagel acquired in 2001 and re-branded last month.

As a result of the integration, Robert R. Auray, Jr., president and chief executive of Kuehne & Nagel Logistics, Inc., is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Dan DeSoto, formerly executive vice president, operations, assumes responsibility for U.S. contract logistics as managing director and executive vice president, reporting to Rolf Altorfer, president of Kuehne & Nagel, Inc. DeSoto has 23 years of operations experience with USCO and Kuehne & Nagel.

"The integration underscores Kuehne & Nagel's determination to bring greater value to customers doing business in the United States by providing them with one-stop access to the most comprehensive range of logistics products, including access to all modes of transport and more than 30 million-square feet of global distribution space," said Klaus Herms, president and chief executive, Kuehne & Nagel International AG, said.

Kuehne & Nagel employs 19,000 employees at 600 locations in 96 countries.
