Exel names Moebel U.S. chief

Exel, the British logistics provider, said that Patrick Moebel has been named chief executive for Technology and Global Freight Management - Americas.

The announcement confirmed a report in the Dec. 1 issue of The Journal of Commerce.

"We recognize Patrick as a top U.S. executive with an extensive background in the industry. Patrick brings qualities to this organization necessary to further develop sales, operations and general management," said Mick Fountain, Exel's chief executive, Technology and Global Freight Management, in a prepared statement. "Our people serve as a cornerstone to Exel's success and we chose Patrick with full confidence that he will provide leadership by aligning our businesses in the Americas and guide Exel as we continue to move forward with integration initiatives."

Moebel most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Schenker USA.

Moebel, a Swiss native, joins Exel effective immediately and will relocate to the Dallas area.
