EGL raises earnings forecast

Forwarder EGL Inc. on Monday said that it has raised its first-quarter earnings forecast because of stronger-than-expected shipments in March with international activity leading the way.

Houston-based EGL said it expects earnings of 10 cents to 12 cents per share in the quarter, up from a prior earnings forecast of 5 cents to 7 cents per share. Strong international business overcame weak domestic priority volume, the company said.
