U.K.-based freight forwarder Davies Turner is developing a point-of-origin warehousing network enabling textile or garment shippers to collate and consolidate goods before shipment from countries around the Black Sea and Mediterranean. The system is designed to help traders ease uneven delivery and dispatch flows from suppliers that can play havoc with stock replenishment schedules. It is aimed particularly at shippers who move thousands of garments each week on a demanding just-in-time basis, the company said.

Elite International Transportation Inc., the Houston-based 3PL that serves chemical and petrochemical companies, said it is the first U.S.-based freight forwarder to join Elemica''s global information network. Elemica is an online, independent platform that brings together buyers, sellers and service providers in the chemical industry. Also, Elite has been selected by Norwalk, Conn.-based specialty chemicals company Arch Chemicals to provide freight forwarding services. Elite is responsible for the shipment of both hazardous and nonhazardous materials for Arch.
