DUPONT UNVEILS NEW STORAGE SITE

DuPont said a new, 180,000-square-foot distribution center at its DeLisle plant will improve efficiency and allow better service to its customers.

DuPont has been using four locations - one on site, one in New Orleans and two in Gulfport - to store the titanium dioxide that it makes in DeLisle. The new center, unveiled last week at a ribbon-cutting, will serve as the only storage and distribution site."We got to the point where we outgrew our system," said Vic Stroud, DuPont DeLisle's unit manager for finishing and product distribution. "The benefits are obvious but clearly indicate better service to our customers."

The plant produces 270,000 tons of titanium dioxide each year. The powdery chemical is used in paint, plastics and paper.
