CONSUMER PRICES JUMP IN CHINA

China's consumer prices rose 19.8 percent in January-August compared with the same period last year, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday, quoting the State Statistics Bureau.

Meanwhile, retail prices rose 17.2 percent in January-August from a year earlier, the bureau said. The retail price index is a narrower measure of inflation, which excludes services and utilities.
