CHINA PICKS SITES FOR NUCLEAR PLANT

The Chinese Ministry of Power Industry has approved two possible sites in northern China's Shandong Province for the construction of one nuclear power plant, the official Xinhua News Agency said Monday.

The two potential sites are in the province's eastern Jiaodong peninsula, a People's Daily report said. Of the two, Lengjiazhuang is likely to be chosen, but Hongshiding should be reserved, nuclear experts said.The Shandong First Nuclear Power Plant will have four 1,000- megawatt generating units with a total investment of 40 billion yuan ($4.8 billion).
