G2OCEAN-Breakbulk Carriers-Breakbulk

Norway-based G2 Ocean, a dry cargo shipping joint venture between Gearbulk and Grieg Star, operates about 130 ships, including the world’s largest fleet of open hatch gantry crane and jib crane vessels, mainly focused on transporting pulp and forest products, and aluminum. Its core fleet of ships gives G2 Ocean flexibility to interchange vessels for quick response to customers’ needs. Specialized vessels cater to specific needs such as extreme heat. Its onboard cranes, which lift as much as 70 tonnes of cargo, enable its vessels to load and discharge efficiently even in the absence of quayside facilities..

G2 Ocean has developed a niche transporting components, including blades and towers, for onshore wind farms. In that sector, G2 Ocean operates similar services to those previously run by Rickmers-Line, offering more than 27 different services, mostly from Asia to Europe, and from Asia/Europe to the East and West coasts of the US and Canada, geared for serving onshore wind projects. G2 Ocean also provides high-frequency services from Asia to South America and Australia. Although project cargo contributed about only 10 percent of G2 Ocean’s total revenue of $1.3 billion in 2018, G2 Ocean reinforced its commitment to its project cargo business by making the sector a key driver in its long-term business plan announced in 2019..
