API WEEKLY REPORT US CRUDE OIL STOCS INCREASE

U.S. inventories of crude oil rose by 3.3 million barrels during the week ended July 28, compared with the previous week, the American Petroleum Institute's latest weekly supply bulletin shows.

Crude stocks were 313.7 million barrels, up from 310.4 million barrels in the previous week but lower than the 327.6 million barrels in inventory a year earlier.Primary inventories of gasoline were down to 207.4 million barrels, compared with 207.8 million the prior week, and were less than the 210.8 million barrels on hand in the year-earlier week.

Regular unleaded reformulated gasoline (RFG) stocks were 39.5 million barrels, up from 37 million barrels the previous week.

Primary inventories of distillate fuel oil, used as home heating and diesel fuel, rose to 120.6 million barrels from 120 million the previous week, but were lower than the 129.3 million barrels of the year-earlier period.

Primary stocks are those held by refiners, importers and at pipeline terminals. They do not reflect stocks held by jobbers, retailers or consumers.

Distillate production was 3 million barrels a day, unchanged from the previous week but down from the year-earlier period's 3.3 million barrels a day.

Distillate fuel imports were 166,000 barrels a day, down from 219,000 barrels a day in the prior week but above year-earlier levels of 137,000 barrels a day.

The refinery utilization rate was 93.8 percent, down from 94.1 percent in both the previous and year-earlier weeks.

Gasoline production was 7.7 million barrels a day, down from 7.8 million the previous week but higher than the 7.2 million barrels a day produced in the year-earlier period.

Imports of gasoline fell to 294,000 barrels a day from 439,000 barrels a day in the previous week, and were less than the 425,000 barrels a day imported a year earlier.

Crude oil imports were 7.5 million barrels a day, up from the previous week's 6.7 million but less than the 8.2 million barrels a day imported a year earlier.
