United scrubs Miami international service

United Airlines will terminate its two remaining international flights out of Miami International Airport, effective May 1.

The struggling carrier has gradually reduced its Miami presence in recent years because of the downturn in the airline industry. Last year it cancelled service to Santiago, Chile, a strong cargo market.

The remaining flights connect Miami with Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

United will continue to serve those markets from its hubs at Washington/Dulles and Chicago. It will serve cargo customers in Miami by trucking cargo to and from Dulles.
