Lufthansa: No plans to shift Asia base

A Lufthansa Cargo executive said that the airline has "no plans" to move its Asia hub from Singapore to Malaysia.

On Tuesday the Business Times of Singapore reported that the German carrier was in talks to relocate its cargo operations to Senai Airport in Johor, Malayasia.

The newspaper today quoted a statement by Lufthansa Cargo regional director of sales Thomas Eggert denying that report. Lufthansa's cargo operations for the region are headquartered at Singapore's Changi airport. Eggert added that Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines are working together to grow their cargo business as members of the WOW alliance.

At the same time, Lufthansa said it will open a new sales office in Johor, joining locations in Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
