Lufthansa, DHL Danzas in pharma deal

DHL Danzas Air & Ocean and Lufthansa Cargo have agreed to develop a strategic partnership for shipments of life-sciences products.

The agreement could lead to a joint venture, the two companies said in a statement Wednesday. They said their goal is to offer pharmaceutical companies and other shippers integrated logistics services for temperature-controlled door-to-door transportation.

DHL Danzas and Lufthansa said customers will enjoy a seamless standardized service to numerous destinations around the world.

Andreas Otto, head of marketing and sales for Lufthansa Cargo, said the deal is a logical extension of the carrier's global partnership program. Eight forwarders participate in the program, which was launched five years ago.

"This solution allows us to offer the pharma industry additional value within the transport chain," said Renato Chiavi, chief operating officer of DHL Danzas Air & Ocean.
