DOT OKS IATA CARGO TARIFFS FOR EUROPE

Two International Air Transport Association cargo tariff actions have been approved by the Transportation Department.

Both DOT orders issued this week concerned tariff conferences the trade group held to set rates applicable on European service.DOT noted that it held the conferences to be anti-competitive but nonetheless valid. The department approved the conference structures on foreign policy and comity grounds in May 1985, and IATA's antitrust immunity remains in effect.

One order approved rates set for intra-European service, while the second covered those set for service between Europe and Africa and in the Middle East. The rates took effect April 1.
