Air Macau opens cross-strait flights

Air Macau signed a freighter ground handling agreement with the Nanking (China) Lou Airport Monday in preparation for the launch of new semi-direct service across the Taiwan Straits.

Under the agreement, Air Macau's Airbus A300 freighter will fly between Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province and Taipei with a short stop-over at Macau beginning June 24. The airline will operate three flights per week on the Nanjing-Macau-Taipei line.

The service targets increasing cross-straits demand by Taiwanese-funded enterprises in Nanjing and its neighboring areas in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The airline previously opened cross-straits freighter service to Shanghai and Shenzhen. It is planning a new route between Taipei and Xiamen in southeast China's Fujian Province.
