Kuwait City, Kuwait, July 4 2010: Agility, a leading global integrated logistics firm, has been honored for its business best practices with two recent industry awards. At a ceremony held in Kuwait, Arabian Business magazine, a part of the ITP group of publications, recognized Agility with a ‘Special Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award’ at the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2010. These awards are given every year to celebrate the very best in business achievement, both on a corporate and individual level.

Tarek Sultan, CEO of Agility, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “It feels great for Agility to be recognized for living our corporate culture and its commitment to good corporate citizenship. With our global presence, especially in emerging markets, we recognize that poverty, disasters, and global climate change affect us all and cannot be ignored. We believe that good corporate citizenship is a long-term investment in the future of our business, our society and our planet. Our commitment to CSR is fuelled by the drive and passion of our employees that approach each initiative with personal ownership and a can do attitude.” Sultan said.

For the second award, in Shanghai, Agility won the Best Green Service Provider awards from the Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA). Organized by Cargonews Asia, these awards are highly prized in the industry because only shippers can vote for logistics service providers. Agility was nominated for fulfilling all the criteria set by the AFSCA organizing committee, which included compliance with green freight transport regulations, set by national and global bodies, and consistent application of these environmental standards. Voters were also asked to consider the company’s’ investment in green initiatives, technology and action plans and ongoing training of staff in green initiatives and in measures to lower company carbon footprints.

The AFSCA serves to highlight Agility’s commitment to developing and implementing environmentally friendly supply chain strategies, while the ‘Special CSR’ awards underline Agility’s efforts in promoting CSR initiatives globally.

Agility has always been very focused on its CSR program which involves humanitarian relief, community volunteerism and environmental initiatives. Since 2006, Agility has invested in over 300 community projects in 52 countries, reaching over 500,000 people on the ground. The company effectively utilizes its expertise in challenging environments to assist the humanitarian community with international disaster response operations. Through Agility’s Humanitarian and Emergency Logistics Program (HELP), the company has responded to emergencies in Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Pakistan and most recently Chile and Haiti.

Agility’s corporate grant program enables employees to take the lead on implementing social projects that are meaningful to their local communities. Projects include moving medical supplies for 10,000 people to Baghdad hospitals on behalf of the International Medical Corps, conducting an education drive for 200 underprivileged children in the United States, renovating
elementary schools in rural Sri Lanka and Vietnam, supporting The Great Football Giveaway projects in Angola, Rwanda, and Uganda, and orphanages in Sierra Leone and Ethiopia.

The company also recognizes the importance of preserving our natural resources, whilst also understanding that the complexity of these issues demands global dialogue and awareness building. In New Zealand, Agility was the first logistics company to obtain CarboNZero certification and it is also one the signatories of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) CEO Climate Policy Recommendations to the G8 and G20 leaders.
