SAN JOSE, Calif. — June 14, 2011 — CargoSmart Limited, a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) global shipping and logistics solutions provider, today announced that Universal Shipping, Inc. (USI), a non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and logistics service provider specializing in U.S. import and export trade lanes, has implemented CargoSmart’s full suite of private label solutions to deliver online tools for its customers and to automate its shipment management processes.

Over the last two years, USI evaluated cargo tracking, purchase order management, and operational platforms. “We selected CargoSmart’s sophisticated forwarder operations management system to support our rapidly growing business,” said Jacob Bech-Hansen, Vice President of USI. “CargoSmart demonstrated the expertise, history, and credibility with steamship lines to offer best-in-class service and visibility to our customers.”

USI’s business growth required a quick and seamless implementation. CargoSmart’s solutions allowed USI to rapidly deploy a shipment management solution that meets its customers’ visibility, shipment execution, documentation, and compliance needs. USI implemented CargoSmart’s private label solution in less than three months and has rolled it out to nine of its offices throughout the U.S., China, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. “The carefully prepared implementation process and 24/7 customer service support in Asia and the U.S. has made our partnership with CargoSmart rewarding. Our internal and external necessity for CargoSmart’s best in-class I.T. solutions is ongoing,” added Mr. Bech-Hansen.

CargoSmart’s private label solution enables USI to offer branded, online shipment management tools for its customers and to streamline its in-house operations. USI’s customers can now look up operational sailing schedules from over 20 carriers, track cargo by house bill of lading numbers, view shipment details, monitor exceptions, and subscribe to e-mail notifications and reports. In addition, USI’s customer service team can submit bookings and shipping instructions from one platform, file advanced manifest data (AMS), Importer Security Filings (ISF), and Electronic Export Information (EEI) to comply with U.S. regulations, and improve communications with online document sharing among its global offices. Having up-to-date ocean container movement information in its system allows USI to be proactive internally to manage shipments as well as provide timely, automated information to its customers.

“CargoSmart’s comprehensive visibility and shipment execution solutions have been helping shippers and forwarders for more than 10 years. NVOCCs are leveraging CargoSmart’s proven tools to serve their customers and build their businesses with value-added services rapidly and successfully,” said Joe O’Brien, Managing Director of CargoSmart North America. “We are pleased that USI is now part of CargoSmart’s growing NVOCC private label customer base.”
