YRC Worldwide Expands Guaranteed Windows

Anticipates rise in retailers’ must arrive by date requirements

In preparation for the peak fall season and extra demands on retailers, YRC Worldwide is expanding its window delivery capabilities across all of its transportation companies. The move comes as the country’s largest less-than-truckload carrier works to turn around recent sharp declines in its business.

The suite of flexible “guaranteed window” solutions is designed to help retail suppliers avoid costly charge-backs when precise delivery windows are not met. The services also help retailers accurately project and accept delivery of merchandise into their distribution centers, warehouses and stores.

YRC, the largest transportation unit of YRC Worldwide, already offers a standard or guaranteed Multiday Window delivery service across all of North America. The service started with Roadway in 2004, and Yellow Transportation picked it up in 2008. The announcement Friday makes it available through all the company’s subsidiaries.

“We continue to see a rise in the number of major retailers implementing ‘must arrive by date’ (MABD) and delivery window supplier requirements,” said John Garcia, executive vice president and chief sales officer for YRC Worldwide. “With our recent portfolio expansions, all YRC Worldwide companies offer solutions that precisely address delivery window needs, providing our customers with unmatched flexibility and reliability.”

USF Holland began offering retail suppliers in the Central U.S. single-hour, multi-hour, single-day and multi-day delivery window capabilities in January, and Reddaway introduced the same capabilities to regional customers in the West in May. New Penn also offers guaranteed window options to customers located in the Northeast.
