Reorganization to allow faster decisions, says company
YRC Worldwide fired four top executives as part of a management reorganization the company says will allow it to execute critical decisions throughout the company faster as it struggles to improve operations and stabilize financial losses.
Keith Lovetro, former president, YRC Regional Transportation; Michael Rapken, former executive vice president and chief information officer; Jim Ritchie, former president of YRC Logistics, and Christina Wise, former vice president and treasurer, are all leaving the company.
New responsibilities within senior leadership as a result of the organizational change include appointments for Mike Smid, president of YRC and chief operations officer; Tim Wicks, executive vice president and chief financial officer; Greg Reid, executive vice president and chief marketing officer; Mike Naatz, executive vice president and chief information and service officer, and John Carr, chief operating officer for YRC Logistics.
YRC said Smid will assume responsibility for the operations of all YRC Worldwide regional and national networks. Wicks will be responsible for all strategic and operational finance activities across YRC companies. Reid will lead a consolidated YRC marketing effort. Naatz assumes responsibility for YRC Worldwide Information Technology and customer service. As
previously reported, John Carr assumes the role of president for YRC Logistics.
Sheila Taylor, currently vice president, finance and investor relations, will assume the role of Treasurer and report to Wicks.
In addition to the internal changes, YRC hired John Garcia for the new position of executive vice president and chief sales officer. Garcia, previously chief marketing officer at Sprint, will be responsible for sales strategy across all YRC companies.
“Today’s announcement is a significant, strategic step as we take advantage of the full power of YRC Worldwide,” said YRC Chairman, President and CEO William D. Zollars.
Really? trimmed the fat but kept Billy Zollars? That makes no sense at all
