Acquisition gives California-based 3PL a harbor trucking presence at Pacific Northwest ports

GSC Logistics, an Oakland, Calif.-based transportation provider and 3PL, expanded into the Pacific Northwest by acquiring Best Way Trucking, a port trucker in Seattle and Portland, Ore.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The combined companies will provide container drayage, cross-dock deconsolidation, transloading, heavy hauling, over-the-road refrigerated and dry freight transportation, hazardous materials, and intermodal drayage services.

“We wanted to expand our services into the Pacific Northwest because that region complements our service coverage throughout northern California and Nevada,” said Andres Garcia, GSC’s chairman and executive vice president.

GSC was founded in 1988. Best Way Trucking, which will retain its brand within GSC, was established in 2002. Best Way employees and management also will stay with the company.

“Our shared resources will allow us to concentrate on expanding our services to a national market,” said Biniam Habte, Best Way’s director of operations.
