The Journal of Commerce Online - News Story
Fifth consecutive week of stable pricing on the retail market

The average price for a gallon of diesel fuel fell 2 cents last week to $2.201, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Just five weeks ago national retail diesel prices hit an average of $2.09 per gallon, their lowest point in four years. Since then, they have stabilized at just above $2.20 per gallon. Last week’s slight decline brings prices to $1.976 below their mark of a year ago.

Across the country, there was not much difference in movement among the regions.

The highest prices were on the West Coast, where diesel fell 1.2 cents to $2.315 per gallon, down $1.997 from a year ago. The lowest prices were in the Midwest, where drivers paid $2.142 per gallon, down 2.4 cents from a week earlier and down $1.991 from a year earlier.
