U.S. diesel prices rose above $4 per gallon for the first time in a month and at the sharpest pace since August, climbing 9.5 cents in the week ending Feb. 4.
The average price, $4.022, is 16.6 cents higher than a year ago, according to the Energy Information Administration. The last time the average price of gasoline was above the $4 mark was in the week ending Oct. 5. Mid-August was last time prices jumped so quickly, as the cost per gallon rose an average of 11.5 cents.
