USA Truck reported a net loss of $3.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2012, which is an improvement compared with the net loss of $4.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Quarterly revenue was $107.1 million, increasing 6.8 percent from $100.3 million in the same quarter in 2011. Trucking revenue in the fourth quarter increased from $75.3 million in 2011 to $77.9 million in 2012, and intermodal revenue rose from $5.7 million in 2011 to $6.5 million in 2012.
“Improvement was most evident in our trucking segment, where we produced year-over-year revenue growth for the first time since the second quarter of 2011,” said Cliff Beckham, president and CEO, in a written statement.
For the full year of 2012, the over-the-road trucking company posted a net loss of $17.5 million, falling further from a net loss of $10.8 million from January to December 2011.
Annual revenue fell 0.6 percent year-over-year to $408.7 million, from $411.0 million in the same quarter in the previous year. Yearly trucking revenue dropped from $321.3 million in 2011 to $297.6 million in 2012 and intermodal fell from $22.7 million to $21.3 million.
