FTR Associates’ Trucking Conditions Index for December, published in its February 2013 Trucking Update, was a favorable reading of 8.38, although it declined from November’s reading of 9.7.
By mid-2013, the TCI is expected to rise significantly because of market tightness from expected regulatory changes and steady freight growth, the Nashville, Ind.-based company said.
“Despite recent commentary from some in the industry, we believe that fundamentals for growth remain intact and continue to expect a significant even occurring in July when the hours-of-service changes are set to be implemented,” said Jonathan Starks, director of transportation analysis for FRT, said in a statement.
