Same-day carrier Dynamex is launching a truckload division, Dynamex Truckload Services, to haul larger, heavier freight for its shipper customers.
Dynamex, acquired by Canadian trucking giant TransForce in 2011, increased revenue 11.1 percent to about $477 million, according to SJ Consulting Group data.
The company provides a variety of expedited, same-day transportation services, including dedicated fleet services and scheduled distribution services.
“Our expansion into the truckload arena comes at an ideal time,” said Jason Bergman, vice president of North American sales for the Dallas-based company.
The cost of fuel and difficulty hiring drivers is limiting the number of “reliable and sustainable (truckload) providers,” Bergman said Monday.
Dynamex will offer truckload service through carrier partners and, in some cases, with its own assets, Dan Boklage, director of truckload services, said in an interview.
“We have a customer base that is unique,” Boklage said. “Our (same-day) customer is not the traditional truckload shipper” with multiple weekly truckloads.
“The customer may have an occasional need, and now we can manage that through our network,” using Dynamex shipment information technology, he said.
