Chattanooga, Tenn.-based truckload carrier Covenant Transport reported profit in the fourth quarter of 2012 was $1.5 million, up from a net loss of $2.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Total quarterly revenue was $177.5 million, rising 9.6 percent from $162.0 million in the same quarter the previous year. Freight revenue in the fourth quarter increased 9.8 percent year-over-year from $127.5 million to $140 million.
For the full year of 2012, profit was $6.1 million, compared with a new loss of $14.3 million in 2011. Annual revenue rose 3.3 percent from $652.6 million to $674.3 million, and freight revenue also increased 3.3 percent from $512 million to $529.1 million.
