Celadon Group on Thursday named Paul Will its new CEO, succeeding Steve Russell in that role, as well as president. The change is effective immediately.
Will, who has been with the company 19 years, previously served as vice chairman, president and chief operating officer; he will remain on the board of directors. Russell continues as chairman and remains an executive officer, the company said.
“The Company retains Steve’s historical industry perspective, emphasis on growth, and cultural values of safety, security, and customer service,” said Michael Miller, Celadon’s lead independent director, in a written statement announcing the changes. “Steve is expected to be actively involved in the management of the Company, including in his long-time roles in corporate strategy and as a primary motivator of the Company’s award-winning drivers.”
Celadon’s performance this year has been boosted by a series of acquisitions.
