Ryder has supplied a further 14 MAN TGS tractor units and trailers on contract to the Ministry of Defence (MOD). The trucks will be based at the Defence School of Transport (DST) based at Normandy Barracks, Leconfield, East Yorkshire, where Ryder recently supplied 138 trucks and tractor units, plus 47 trailers on a four year contract hire deal.

Pat O’Brien, Ryder’s Public Sector Business Development Director, comments, “We have been supplying trucks to the DST for the past 15 years as well as servicing and supplying vehicles to the MOD’s white fleet, both in the UK and across Europe. We greatly value working in partnership with the MOD as a proven service provider and look forward to supporting the British armed forces for many years.”

Sqn Ldr (Retd) Gavin Dalton, Driver Training Squadron, Senior Specialist Instructional Officer adds, “We have an excellent working relationship with Ryder. They have always worked hard to provide us with the equipment, maintenance and customer care we need to keep an operation as large as ours running smoothly.”

“The DST provides large goods vehicle driver training for all branches of the British armed forces with approximately 10,000 licences of varying categories being gained every year using the contracted fleet. The quality of service and support we receive from Ryder is second to none and ensures that we are always in a position to meet our training obligations.”
