Freight transportation analyst FTR Associates released preliminary data on Nov. 4 showing October Class 8 truck net orders at 22,760 for all major North American original equipment manufacturers, which is 50 percent higher than net orders in September and the highest number of monthly orders in the year to date.
The October orders boosted the annualized rate for the past three months to 216,000 units, compared with the three-month annualized rate of 174,000 units at the end of September.
The high October orders were primarily driven by activity at a single manufacturer, FTR President Eric Starks said.
