Roadrunner Buys Drayage Operator for $20 Million

Roadrunner Transportation Systems, a less-than-truckload and truckload carrier, acquired intermodal operator Morgan Southern for $20 million in cash.

The acquisition gives Roadrunner 19 intermodal terminals and access to the majority of the country's key intermodal markets, the company said.

Roadrunner is No. 19 on the JOC list of Top 50 North America's LTL Carriers.

Morgan Southern will bolster Roadrunner's truckload segment and geographic reach, said Mark DiBlasi, president and CEO of the Cudahy, Wis.-based carrier.

"We believe favorable trends will continue in the intermodal sector for the foreseeable future," DiBlasi said.
