Old Dominion Freight Lines promoted several key executives following the death of John B. Yowell, executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Kevin M. "Marty" Freeman is now senior vice president of sales and Cecil "Chip" E. Overbey senior vice president of marketing, pricing and strategic development.
Freeman, a 20-year ODFL veteran, had been vice president of field sales. Overbey, an ODFL executive for 15 years, was vice president of national accounts and marketing.
Greg C. Gantt, senior vice president of operations, will take on additional responsibilities in corporate and field services at the less-than-truckload carrier.
All three formerly reported to Yowell, who had been executive vice president since 1997 and COO since 2008. Yowell, 59, died Dec. 30 at his home.
Freeman, Overbey and Gantt will report to David S. Condgon, president and CEO of ODFL, the seventh-largest U.S. LTL trucking company.
