YRC Freight said it has cut at least one day of delivery time on hundreds of its North American supply chain lanes through the streamlining of its less-than-truckload network.
The YRC Worldwide subsidiary said it has increased speed in more than 24,000 lanes, including those into and out of every major U.S. city. For example, the route from Charlotte, N.C., to Seattle has been cut by one day to four days; the haul from Indianapolis to Los Angeles was shortened to three days; and shippers can get goods from Milwaukee to Tampa now within two days.
The Overland, Kan.-based company also said it has improved reliability in the last eight months and decreased the risk of damage to shipment by limiting freight touches to less than 700,000 annually. The ailing LTL carrier began streamlining its nationwide network in April to focus on two- to five-day hauls, after the Teamsters union got on board with the changes.
